Removing stuck cartridges from slots
In the event of a severe mechanical problem with the autoloader or if circumstances require you to
remove tape cartridges, do the following:
If the Operator Control Panel is still operational:
1.
Move the cartridges from the drive(s) to the magazines using the Move Cartridge command, or
the Forced Drive Eject command. See“
Moving cartridges within the autoloader

Forcing the drive to eject a cartridge
NOTE:
If a cartridge is stuck in the drive and you cannot remove it as described in
Forcing the drive to eject a cartridge
” on page 48, contact your HP support representative.

Use the magazine removal process to release the magazine and remove it from the autoloader. To
use the operator control panel, see “
Unlocking, removing and replacing magazines
” on page 42. If
this process does not work, see “

IMPORTANT:
You should not meet any resistance while removing the magazine. However, if there has
been a power failure, a cartridge may be not be fully seated in the magazine slot. If it feels
as if there is an obstruction, stop. Do not try to pull the magazine out by force; you may
damage the autoloader. Contact your HP support representative.
Releasing the magazines manually
IMPORTANT:
You may need a second person to help remove the magazine because of the size of the autoloader,
particularly if it is rack-mounted.
If you cannot remove the cartridges using the operator control panel, do the following:
1.
Unplug the power cord from the autoloader.
2.
Find the access holes for the right and left magazines. See

To manually release the magazines, push the end of a straightened paper clip into the access hole
for each magazine at the back of the autoloader. While holding the paper clip, have a second
person attempt to pull the magazine out of the front of the unit. See
