2 Installing the autoloader
Location criteria
The autoloader is suitable for both tabletop and rackmounted operation. Choose a location that meets
the following general criteria:

Place the autoloader near an AC outlet. The AC power cord is the product’s
main AC disconnect device and must be easily accessible at all times.

Air quality
The autoloader should be placed in an area with minimal sources of particulate
contamination. Avoid areas near frequently used doors and walkways, stacks of
supplies that collect dust, printers, and smoke-filled rooms.
Excessive dust and debris can damage cartridges and tape drive.
If installing in a rack, install the product away from the floor to avoid dust
contamination.

Tabletop requirements
The tabletop unit is supplied with an autoloader cover, which should be fitted prior to use. With the
tabletop conversion cover fitted, you can place up to 15 kg (33 lbs.) on top of the autoloader. The unit
must be placed on a level, clean surface. Ensure that there are no cables underneath the unit and that
there is sufficient space around the unit to ensure adequate ventilation. Do not place the autoloader
on its side.
CAUTION:
Placing more than 15 kg (33 lbs.) on top of the cover can damage the autoloader.
Rack requirements
Rail kits are supplied with the rackmounted version of the autoloader. The unit requires a standard
19-inch rack with a 1U slot available.
