Using a firmware upgrade cartridge and the OCP
This option from the Operator Control Panel allows the updating of drive code using a firmware upgrade
cartridge. To use this command, you must first select the drive or drives to be upgraded and then select
where you want to load the firmware upgrade cartridge from.
To update the drive code:
1. Before beginning the firmware upgrade, load a firmware upgrade cartridge into any open slot. If all
slots are full, you must remove a data cartridge to make room for the firmware upgrade cartridge.
2. From the Home screen, press Previous or Next until the screen displays Support. Press Enter
to select.
3. Press Previous orNext until the screen displays FW Upgrade Using Cartridge. Press Enter
to select. The screen displays: Firmware: XXXX (where XXXX is the current drive firmware
version). Press Enter.
4. Press Previous or Next until the display shows the correct slot location of the firmware upgrade
cartridge installed in the autoloader. Press Enter to select the correct firmware cartridge location.
The screen will display Updating Drive FW..., then Updating Loader FW....
NOTE:
You cannot cancel a firmware upgrade. All control keys are inoperative until the upgrade is
complete.
5. When the update is complete, the screen will display either Success Export FW Cartridge ,
or Drive FW Upgrade Failed. If the upgrade failed, press Enter to display the error code
and message describing the cause of the failure.
6. Remove the firmware upgrade cartridge from the autoloader by removing the magazine where the
cartridge has been placed.
Running the demonstration
This option runs a demonstration mode of the autoloader. The demonstration continues until the Cancel
button is pressed on the operator control panel.
To run the demonstration:
1. From the Home screen, press Previous or Next until the screen displays Support. Press Enter
to select.
2. Press Previous or Next until the screen displays Run Demo. Press Enter to select.
3. The screen will now display Running Demo. Press Enter.
4. The screen displays Select Number of Loops. Use Previous or Next to select the required
number of loops or Infinite. Press Enter.
5. While the test is running, the screen will display progress as shown: Running DEMO. The second
line on the display will show the number of loops completed.
NOTE:
To stop the demonstration, press Cancel on the operator control panel.
Running the Wellness test
This option runs a Wellness test to verify the health of the autoloader, where the number of loops to run
can be selected. If a failure occurs during the test, the error code and message can be displayed
describing the cause of the failure.
