• When you change the storage system settings in View mode, Remote Web Console
automatically locks the setting operations by other users when the user applies the desired
changes on the window. Operating in View mode requires less time to lock the setting
operations by other users than operating in Modify mode.
• When one user in View mode is trying to apply the storage system setting while another user
is applying the setting, a message indicating that the setting must be applied later is displayed
for the user in View mode. Since the setting remains in the window, the user in View mode
must try to apply the setting after waiting for a while.
Extending the Modify Mode Timeout Period
When you change from View mode to Modify mode, a progress bar that shows the Modify mode timeout
period is displayed on the Remote Web Console main window.
Figure 19 Progress Bar that Shows the Modify Mode Timeout
The progress bar shows the remaining time period in which the Modify mode is available. The remaining
time period for the Modify mode is also numerically displayed on the progress bar. The default Modify
mode timeout period is 30 minutes.
If a user is in Modify mode but does not access the SVP, the progress bar decreases. If time passes without
accessing the SVP and reaches the specified Modify mode timeout period, Modify mode is released.
The Reset button is displayed on the right of the progress bar. When you click the Reset button, you can
extend the Modify mode time period. For example, if the Modify mode timeout period is set to 30 minutes
(default), the Modify mode time period is extended for 30 minutes when you click the Reset button.
You can change the Modify mode timeout period using the RMI time-out period for Modify parameter
on the Set Env. dialog box. You have to log in as a storage administrator with Enable authority for the
Storage Administrator Role to change the setting of RMI time-out period for Modify. For the procedure
to change the parameter, see “
Setting the Environment Parameters
” on page 89. If you disable this
parameter by specifying NO, a progress bar that shows the Modify mode timeout period is not displayed
on the Remote Web Console main window, even though the mode is changed to Modify.
License Keys
A license key is a textual key that functions as a password, because it is entered into Remote Web
Console and unlocks the protection of an option. Because each license key is generated with a storage
system serial number and option ID input, each storage system requires a unique license key code.
License key codes for each option (including the Java application) and storage system are provided when
you purchase program product options.
To input the license key, enter a license key code or a license key file containing multiple license key
codes. A license key file is provided when you purchase program product options.
