2 Installation Requirements and
Procedures
System Requirements
The Remote Web Console Java application is downloaded from the SVP to the Remote Web Console
computer. The application runs in Remote Web Console, and communicates with the attached storage
systems via the TCP/IP network.
The Remote Web Console software has the following system requirements:
• Storage systems. The Remote Web Console can be attached to multiple storage systems of the
same type (such as HP XP24000 Disk Array).
Note: To connect to more than one storage system, you must log in to the SVP of each of the
desired storage systems, and use individual Java applications in separate web browser windows.
• Remote Web Console systems. For the requirements for the Remote Web Console system,
see “ Requirements for Windows ” on page 21 for the Windows operating systems and see
“ Requirements for UNIX ” on page 23 for the UNIX operating systems.
• A web browser is required on the Remote Web Console computer/system.
• Up to 32 Remote Web Console users can concurrently access the same storage system.
• LAN cable and connection:
• Thinnet coaxial cable. For twisted-pair connections, contact HP technical support for
assistance.
• The total length of the LAN cables must not be greater than 185 meters (607 feet).
• License keys for Remote Web Console and other program products.
Requirements for Windows
This section explains the requirements for the Remote Web Console system and the supported web
browsers and Java Runtime Environment (JRE) versions for the Windows operating systems.
