User Access Levels
To use Remote Web Console, you need a user account. Remote Web Console user accounts contain the
following information:
•
User ID
•
User type
•
Password
•
Operation authority
For Remote Web Console, the default user account is administrator. By default, operation authority for
all functions of Remote Web Console and program product options is given to the administrator user
account. You cannot delete the administrator user account. You may register up to 500 user accounts,
including the administrator account for Remote Web Console.
You have to set user ID, user type and password when you enter a user account. Operation authority can
be set for each registered user account. To register the user account, or to set operation authority, use the
Account window. For further information on the procedures for registering a user account and for setting
operation authority for Remote Web Console, see “
The following sections describe user types and operation authority.
User Types
There are two types of Remote Web Console users: storage administrator and storage partition
administrator. You decide the user type, when you register the user account.
The range of operating authority varies by user type:
•
Storage administrator
A storage administrator can operate the entire storage system. Only a storage administrator
can perform the Control Panel and Audit log- operations of Remote Web Console. The default
Administrator user account is a storage administrator.
•
Storage partition administrator
A storage partition administrator can operate an SLPR (Storage Management Logical Partition)
allocated by Remote Web Console. A storage partition administrator cannot perform Control
Panel and Audit log operations of Remote Web Console.
Note:
A storage partition administrator can use only a part of program product options.
For further information on SLPR or details on the program product options that a storage partition
administrator can use, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000 Disk/Cache Partition User's Guide.
Operation Authority
If you set a user ID and password when you register a user account, you can set various operation
authorities for the account. In Remote Web Console, the operation authority might be called the role.
The types of operation authorities that can be set for each user account are as follows:
•
Account administrator role (user account operation authority)
The account administrator role is the authority to manage Remote Web Console user accounts.
All users can change their own passwords and view the settings for their own user accounts.
Only users with the account administrator role can modify the password or the settings of
another user account.
You cannot change the account administrator role settings for the administrator user account.
For each user account, you can select the authority of the account administrator role from the
following three types:
• Modify: If you have this authority, you can add, change, and delete all user accounts except
the administrator user ID. For the administrator user account, you can change the password
and operation authority other than the account administrator role. The operation authority
Modify has been set for the user account of user ID administrator.
