VACUUM PUMP
Refer to the Vacuum Pump Operation and Service
Manual for specific instructions.
Lubrication: We recommend that you use AEON
PD Synthetic Blower Lubricant in the gear end of the
vacuum pump for all operating temperatures. AEON
PD is formulated especially for positive displacement
blower service to provide maximum blower
protection at any temperature. One filling of AEON
PD will last a minimum of 2 times longer than a
premium mineral oil.
NOTE: AEON PD (Part # 05-008039) is the oil
which Prochem puts in the vacuum pump at the
factory. Topping off or adding petroleum oil to
synthetic oil is NOT recommended.
If not using AEON PD synthetic blower lubricant,
use oils with rust and oxidation inhibitors, anti-foam
additives and the viscosity’s listed on the chart on
this page.
1. Check the oil level weekly to assure the proper
level. PROPER LEVEL cannot be
overemphasized. Too little oil will ruin bearings
and gears. Too much oil will cause overheating.
Use Figure 19 as a guide when adding oil.
2. To prevent rust from building up inside the
vacuum pump (if moisture exists) we have
provided a lubrication cup on the front of the
unit.

First run the unit at least 1 minute to remove any
moisture from the vacuum pump. Next, fill the
lubrication cup with WD-40, or a similar lubricant, for
5 seconds while the unit is running and the vacuum
inlet is sealed. Do this at the end of each working
day.
3. Drain, flush and replace oil every 1500 hours or
yearly, whichever comes first. Change oil
more frequently if inspection so indicates. With
AEON PD synthetic lubricant, perform the oil
change maintenance every 4500 hours or
every 2 years, whichever comes first.
4. The bearings on the pulley end of the vacuum
pump requires grease lubrication every 500
hours. Pack the bearings until grease comes
out of the vent holes. Use extreme pressure
bearing grease of the specification NLGI Grade
2 EP.
