If automatic detection is successful, the correct values will be
filled in for the remaining fields on this submenu. If no drive is
installed or if you are removing a drive and not replacing it,
select None.
CD-ROM if a CD-ROM is installed as the IDE Adapter 0
Master.
To configure a drive that is not an IDE type drive, if it is User.
Manually enter the number of cylinders, heads and sectors per
track for your drive. Refer to your drive’s documentation or
look on the drive if you need to obtain this information.
ATAPI Removable if the drive is an ATAPI type drive that
supports high-capacity storage diskettes. This option would be
used in the event that you have swapped the CD-ROM or DVD-
ROM for an ATAPI type removable drive.
Total Sectors
This field configures the drive’s number of sectors per track. If
the system has successfully detected the drive automatically,
there is no need to adjust this field. In order to make changes to
this field, the Type field must be set to User.
Maximum Capacity
This field gives the maximum formatted capacity of the hard
disk drive. This is a display only field.
Multi-Sector Transfers
This option automatically sets the number of sectors per block
to the highest number supported by the drive. This field can
also be configured manually. Note that when this field is
automatically configured, the set value may not always be the
fastest value for the drive.
Refer to the documentation that came with your hard drive to
determine the optimal value and set it manually. In order to
make changes to this field, the Type field must be set to User.
