7.2 Tools for NetBIOS
The following scripts are used for NetBIOS administration.
7.2.1
/var/opt/nbrfc/bin/findbrow
This tool helps you to find the Master Browser in a subnetwork for a given domain or
workgroup. If found, it lists the master browser’s name table.
In contrast to the PC tool of the same name, the UNIX
findbrow
command can locate a
Master Browser both within a local and remote subnetwork.
This is of benefit to the system administrator and to the support centers when searching for
errors.
The
findbrow
program is based internally on the NetBIOS
nbtstat
program and therefore
uses the same output format.
Syntax:
findbrow [ -b
-b
Search within a certain remote subnetwork indicated by
given in dotted decimal notation.
The default is to search within all locally configured subnetworks as indicated
by
nbconfig -i
.
The name of the domain or workgroup.
An example of program output is given below:
# ./findbrow -b 111.111.255.255 domain1
