Using the DIVA T/A
SecurID Connectivity
If you are using V.120, SecurID is available on all platforms. If you are using PPP or multilink
PPP, SecurID is only available with Windows 95/98/NT4. Note that SecurID using PAP-Token
and CHAP is not supported. PAP-Token and CHAP are usually used with servers other than
Shiva (e.g. Ascend).
Using Windows 95/98 to Connect to a V.120 Server
The following example demonstrates how to use Windows 95/98 to connect to a V.120
Server:
1
From the Dial-Up Networking group, right-click the connection on which you want to
implement Secure ID, and select ‘Properties’.
2
Under the ‘Connect using’ field, click ‘Configure’.
3
Click the ‘Options’ tab and enable ‘Bring up terminal window after dialing’.
When you connect to the V.120 SecurID server, a terminal window will pop-up and prompt
for your user name and password.
Using PPP and Multilink PPP
If you want to use PPP or Multilink PPP to access a SecurID server, ask your administrator if:
•
the server is using Shiva PAP as the authentication protocol
•
the server supports these protocols
If these conditions are not met, you cannot use SecurID. If the conditions are met install one
of the following:
•
The Shiva ‘Security Pack’ software (a special patch for Windows 95/98)
•
The Shiva ‘DialIn’ software (replacement software for Windows 95/98 and Windows NT
Dial-Up Networking)
These patches are available from your system administrator or at Shiva's Web site at
http://www.shiva.com/remote/clientsoft/index.html. They add SPAP functionality to
Windows. You require this added functionality to make a SecurID connection.
If you have trouble logging into a SecurID server, contact your administrator or Internet
Service Provider (ISP).
