Specifying Static Routes

A static route is a path between two networks. To specify a path by which the

or NIS) and permit outside computers to access NewsShare NAS, choose

Review and change any of the following:

• Enter the IP address of the external network to which NewsShare NAS will

connect. (This is required if you maintain a web server on the network.)

• Enter the Gateway IP address for this static route. A gateway is an entry and

exit point to a network.

• Specify a netmask from the list of compatible netmasks. To determine

compatible netmasks for the network IP address, click the link

• To add the network and gateway IP addresses of this route to the appliance

route table, click

• To remove a route, select it and click

NOTE: Changes do not take effect until you reboot through this
software. Instructions for rebooting are described in “Shutting
Down” on page 88.
