NOTE: The subnet for Port 0 must be the same subnet as that used
for the workstation.

Specifying Static Routes
A static route is a path between two networks. To specify a path by which the
appliance can access a computer outside the network (for example, NTP, DNS,
or NIS) and permit outside computers to access NewsShare NAS, choose
Network | Static Routes
. The Static Routes window appears:
Review and change any of the following:
• Enter the IP address of the external network to which NewsShare NAS will
connect. (This is required if you maintain a web server on the network.)
• Enter the Gateway IP address for this static route. A gateway is an entry and
exit point to a network.
• Specify a netmask from the list of compatible netmasks. To determine
compatible netmasks for the network IP address, click the link
Netmask
.
• To add the network and gateway IP addresses of this route to the appliance
route table, click
Add
.
• To remove a route, select it and click
Remove
.
NOTE: Changes do not take effect until you reboot through this
software. Instructions for rebooting are described in “Shutting
Down” on page 88.
