Browser Settings
Netscape 4
We have found that some versions of Netscape 4 do not render pages properly.
Our recommendation is that users update their browser. Netscape 4 was
released nearly seven years ago, and the most common version, 4.7, five years
ago. Due to the vast improvements in technology, your view of HTML will be
improved by an up-to-date Web browser.
Web browsers can be downloaded for free at the following sites (all have
Windows and Mac versions, except where noted.):
• Microsoft Internet Explorer
• Netscape
• Mozilla
There are many other browsers available, but their compatibility is not
guaranteed.
Allowing Cookies
When the browser does not allow cookies, or cookies do not work well in the
browser, the following symptoms appear:
• A timed GUI session does not work correctly. The session expires before the
specified time. To work around this browser problem, set the session
expiration on the Login window to Connection is Broken. The downside of
doing this is that session protection is lost.
• Setting the refresh interval on a View Information window to a non-default
interval does not work correctly.
To avoid these problems, allow cookies. For information on cookies, refer to
the browser Online Help.
Enabling Java
Enable Java script or JIT. For information on enabling Java, refer to the browser
Online Help. If Java is not enabled in the browser, the icon that displays status
does not refresh automatically. In this case, the only window that periodically
refreshes status is the View Status window.
