File System
A file system is a collection of files and directories stored on a logical unit. Only
one file system can reside on the NewsShare NAS. The file system was created
as part of Setup. Refer to “Creating a File System” on page 32.
Creating a File System
To create a new file system, choose
Storage | File System | Create
. The File
System Creation window appears:
1. Click on the logical unit. The approximate total size of the file system
appears in the Size for new File System field. The maximum size of a file
system is two terabytes.
2. In the Mount Point field, enter the mount point from which the NewsShare
NAS file system is logically attached to the network. The field must start
with a slash
(/). The mount point is the path to the appliance. It can be used as an FTP site,
but otherwise, it is transparent.
3. Select CIFS as the File System export method.
CIFS
, Common Internet File System, is used in Windows systems. NFS is
not supported.
4. Click
Next
to go to the next window.
