IP Settings

This window is used to determine whether the Switch should get its IP Address settings from the user (Manual), a

BOOTP

server, or a DHCP server. If you are not using either BOOTP or DHCP, enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask,

and Default Gateway of the Switch. If you enable BOOTP, you do not need to configure any IP parameters because a

BOOTP server automatically assigns IP configuration parameters to the Switch. If you enable DHCP, a Dynamic Host

Configuration Protocol request will be sent when the Switch is powered up. Once you have selected a setting under Assign

IP is, click Apply to activate the new settings.

There are three choices for how the Switch receives its IP Address settings: Manual, BOOTP, and

DHCP

MAC Address

The Ethernet address for the device. Also known as the physical address

IP Address

The host address for the device on the TCP/IP network.

Subnet Mask

The address mask that controls subnetting on your TCP/IP network.

Default Gateway

The IP address of the device, usually a router, that handles connections to other subnets

and/or other TCP/IP networks.
