5.15 Adding a Description
The operator can add a description to a message to better explain or define what the message consists
of or shows.
From the File pull-down menu, select Set Message Description. A dialog box appears. Enter a short
description for the message. Click on [
OK
] to apply the description or [
CANCEL
] to cancel and close
the dialog box. After the message is saved, the message description will appear next to the message’s
file name in the Open Message dialog box (refer to Section 5.1).
5.16 Saving & Renaming the Message

Note: You cannot save messages for one display type within the directory of another display type.
New Message
Before you can save a new message, you must give it a name and determine the library (folder) it
should be saved within.
1. From the File pull-down menu, select Save or Save As. A dialog box similar to that
shown in Section 5.1 appears.
2. Select the name of the library (folder) under which the message should be saved, or create
a new library by clicking on the Create Folder button
, and then entering a name for
the new library.
3. With the name of the preferred library highlighted, enter the name for the new message in
the File Name field. Up to eight characters may be used.
4. Click on [
SAVE
].
Existing Message
Saving an existing message is even easier. From the File
pull-down menu, select Save, or click on the Save button
.
If you try to close a message before saving, a pop up window appears asking you to save changes.
Renaming a Message or Saving to Another Location
Follow the steps listed for saving a new message to rename a message or save it to another
location. The previous name will still exist at the current location, and will need to be deleted if it
is no longer needed.
