ITF Files
The top half of the dialog box is reserved for ITF files. ITF files consist of multiple RTD fields
usually generated by the source program (such as the Venus Market Monitor) to simplify the
creation of data frames.
To select an ITF file, either click on the down arrow at the top of the dialog box and select the
desired file from the corresponding list, or click on
and browse to the desired file’s location.
Once selected, the data from the ITF file will be placed in the Real-Time Data dialog box.
To insert individual fields from the ITF file into the Message Studio:
1. Highlight the desired field number. The associated parameters for that field appear in the
Parameters box at the bottom of the dialog box.
2. Click on either [
OK
] or [
APPLY
] to add the field.
RTD Field Types
If you choose not to use an ITF file and intend to setup the RTD fields individually, there are three
field types to choose from: RTD, Extended RTD and Horn RTD.
RTD
RTD fields allow information from an outside source (such as a timer or counter) to be
inserted into the message.
·
Item Number: The item number is the location in the display’s RTD buffer where the
information to be displayed will begin.
·
Length: The length is the number of characters to show in the display’s RTD buffer,
starting from the item number. The length may be a number between 1 and 50.
·
Sample Text: Shows the number of characters that will be used for RTD in the
message based off the length. This text can be modified to “name” the field.
Extended RTD
Note: Extended RTD fields are used for custom applications. Refer to the Venus 1500
Software Developers Kit for details.
Extended RTD fields are used for changing RTD fields’ font, color and flashing parameters
without the need to edit and resend the existing message. The fields are updated in the same
manner as the RTD information being displayed.
