1.1 Overview

The CDM‐800 Gateway Router (Figure 1‐1) is a point‐to‐multipoint router. It serves as the “hub” or
local site equipment component of Comtech EF Data’s Advanced VSAT Series group of products.
Comtech’s Advanced VSAT Series group of products (Figure 1‐2) are designed to support latency‐
sensitive applications such as cellular backhaul over satellite, Universal Service Obligation (USO)
networks, corporate networks, Internet Service Providers, and other similar hub‐and‐spoke
network environments that require high‐performance, high‐quality E1 and IP transport with
“always‐on” availability.
