Section 7.2.6 Flywheel Speed
The R/D MODULE provides an isolated analog input in order for the press control to measure and display
flywheel speed (spm). If configured for motor speed adjustment, it can also provide an analog output for
setting the spm command signal to the motor drive. This interface replaces the manually adjusted speed
pot and allows the stroking speed to be directly entered into the operator terminal and automatically sent
as an analog command (0 to 10 vdc) to the drive. The module also provides an analog input for motor
current (% load). In order to interface to eddy current drives with ac tach feedback (Figure 7.12 and 7.13)
or dc drives with 0-10 vdc feedback (Figure 7.14), the 5000-6B module provides four switches (accessed
by removing the module from the card rack). These switches allow the following settings:
Switch Function
Default
S4
Closed if tach is referenced to gnd on eddy current drive
Closed
Open if tach wires drive a bridge rectifier on drive
S3
Closed for eddy current drives (AC tach input)
Closed
Open for 0-10vdc input
S2
not used
Closed
S1
Closed for 330 ohm load for current input
Open
Open for 15k ohm load for current input
