raised completely out of the way. This step is critical to insure unit maintains itself level with
the floor for the life of the system. If for any reason the load bar appears out of level, the first
thing to try is running it to the bottom and allowing the system to correct itself. If unit does not
automatically level itself then do not operate further – call factory or service contract
representative and schedule an immediate on site inspection.

Warning! Never lower the load bar in such a way that the cables may become slack. This can
happen if the mats are lowered onto a cart or other object. This can cause severe damage to the
cables, resulting in a possible unsafe situation where the cables could break, or at the very least
require replacement of the cables.

6. Self Leveling of Load Bar

a. Control panel contains a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) that runs a proprietary self-

leveling program that continually monitors and corrects hoist speeds to ensure the load bar is
kept level. This feature is unique to Jaypro mat hoists and superior in operation to competitor’s
models, which require manual starting and stopping in order to level the load. The PLC is a
high-tech device that requires no maintenance. There is no reason to ever open the control
panel enclosure door to view or modify any of the internal components. Please keep
unauthorized personnel away from control panel.

b. The self-leveling feature will automatically detect if one motor is running faster or slower, or

lagging behind the other. In this event, the program will stop one motor momentarily while
allowing the other to catch up, thereby maintaining system integrity and keeping the load level.
This will appear to the operator as one motor turning off and on very quickly, and may be
accompanied by a loud clicking noise from either the motor or controller, or both. This is
completely normal. Operator should simply continue to hold the key switch in the desired
direction of travel and unit will correct itself automatically.

c. Should the wiring between the control panel and the hoists ever become damaged or

disconnected, unit will cease to operate and will have to be serviced. This may be indicated by
a red light lit on the front of the control panel. Should this light ever become lit, immediately
schedule a service call from an authorized repair technician.
