Seed Meter Drive Lock-Up
For dry fertilizer ground drive lock-up, see page 43.
For liquid fertilizer ground drive lock-up, see page 44.
In the event that the planter must be operated with one or
both seed meter ground drives disabled, they can be
locked up.
This is never required for normal field and transport
operations, but might be desired for testing and other
exceptional situations.
Crushing and Sharp Object Hazards:
Use two people or a mechanical hoist. A single person
attempting to lift the drive arm, align the lock-up weldment
and insert the pin could easier loose control of the arm, which
will swing down rapidly, and could inflict serious leg and foot
injuries.
Refer to Figure 33
Drive lock-up relies on a lock-up weldment
that is
normally secured inside the mount weldment by a clevis
pin
and a hairpin cotter
.
The planter may be raised or lowered, folded or unfolded
for this operation.
1.
Remove the hairpin cotter
and clevis pin
.
2.
Swing the lock-up weldment
down and to wing
rear.
3.
Have the lifter raise the drive arm by the handle
until the clevis end of the lock-up weldment straddles
the rim of the ground drive wheel.
4.
Insert the clevis pin. Secure with cotter.
Meter Drive Re-Engagement
1.
Remove the hairpin cotter.
2.
Have the lifter raise the wheel enough to free the
clevis pin.
3.
Remove the pin.
4.
Lower the wheel.
5.
Swing the lock-up weldment back into the mount
weldment. Secure with clevis pin and hairpin cotter.
