Note: The 2-step functionality is a base feature on all coil-on-plug systems. 3-step control is an option
on the GEN3 coil-on-plug systems.

If the GEN3 system is equipped with 2-Step control and 12 Volts is applied to Header Connector 1, pin
B2, the ECU will begin rev limiting the engine to the user define 2-Step Lo RPM setting.

If the GEN3 system is equipped with both the 2-Step and 3-Step (mostly used for turbo applications)
features, and 12V is applied to Header Connector 2, pin W1, the ECU will begin rev limiting the
engine to the user define 2-Step Hi RPM setting. When 12V is applied to Header Connector 2, pin W1
(the 2-Step Hi wire) the GEN3 ECU will automatically override the 2-Step Lo RPM and seamlessly
jump to the 2-Step Hi RPM level.

Fueling Parameters

This screen requires the user to input the fuel injector flow rate and the engine displacement (in cubic
inches).

A flow rate calculator is available on the BigStuff3 website via this link:

http://bigstuff3.com/pdf/Fuel%20Pressure-Injector%20flow%20Calc.xls

.

The flow rate constant that must be inputted into the “Fueling Parameters” table is centimeters per
minute, not pounds/hour. Once the injector flow rate, in pounds per hour is calculated, the flow rate
in cubic centimeters/minute (cc/min.) can be calculated by multiplying the lbs/hr rate by 10. For
example, using the on-line flow rate calculator it was determined that the actual pound/hour flow rate
of 160#/hr injectors, at 55 PSI, is 177 pounds/hour. To get cubic centimeters per minute, multiply the
177 value by 10 and the result is 1,770 cubic centimeters/minute. Input this value into the Fueling
Parameters “Injector Flow Rate A” cell.

The same calculation is used for the second set of injectors, in a 16 injector system, except the
calculated flow rate for the second set of injectors must be inputted into the Fueling Parameters
“Injector Flow Rate B” cell. For a 24 injector setup, the combined flow rate of the first two sets of
injectors must be inputted into the “Injector Flow Rate A” cell, and the flow rate for the last set of
injectors must be inputted into the “Injector Flow Rate B” cell.

Crank Trigger
See settings below for the input values [Crank Ref Angle (deg) and Inductive Delay (

s)] to be used,

based on the most common configurations. Additional information on this subject is available on the
BigStuff3 website under the How To/Help section via this link:

http://bigstuff3.com/pdf/Ignition%20Guide%20rev%201.2.pdf

.

The crank timing (Crank Ref Angle) should equal the value in the table.
