87. Key Notes Summary (from this manual)
Note: Additional components such as relays and special connectors may be required to
complete your specific installation. Contact your dealer for further details.
Note: The 4 BAR MAP sensor sold by BigStuff3 will read pressure up to 52 PSI.
Note: The GEN3 ECU will never deliver a spark timing value below 6
o
. There are exceptions
to this, when the GEN3 system includes one of the optional traction control systems.
Note: If “Starting Line Timing” control is used in conjunction with the optional 2-Step or 3-
step control, make sure the minimum RPM (under Boost Parameters) is 1,500 RPM below the
2-Step LO RPM (under Operating Parameter Configuration/Rev Limit/2 Step RPM LO) enable
RPM.
Note: If the engine cranks, but does not start make sure the battery voltage is at or above 12V
during cranking. Low battery voltage conditions must be fixed before trying to start the engine.
Battery voltage (especially during cranking) is even more critical with coil-on-plug
applications.
Note: The 2-step functionality is not a base feature on distributor ignition based systems! It is
a base feature on all coil-on-plug systems. 3-step control is an option on all GEN3 systems.
Note: If the GEN3 system has both 2-step and 3-step functionality, and only one of the two
starting line rev limiters will be used, BigStuff3 recommends using the 3-step (two-step high)
control.
Note: The internal (or optional external) data logger trigger wire (describe in the Boost section
below) must be enabled (12V supplied to the data trigger wire) for the 2-step and/or 3-step to
function.
Note: The “Timer” sequence will be reactivated, every time the throttle is closed and then
opened again, since the “Minimum RPM and Minimum TPS criteria are re-satisfied.
Note: The three (3) stage Boost control feature can be used to just retard the timing (without
switching solenoids on) if the criteria outlined in the section directly above are met.
Note: If mounting bolts, other than the factory installed isolation grommets, are used to mount
the ECU, the bolt used must not extend beyond the ¼” factory installed depth. Using bolts, or
threaded rods, that are longer than ¼”
will damage the ECU
and void the warranty!
Also,
the isolators are not used for any type of electrical grounding.
