Analytical Engine
The GC functions, sample loop injection, syringe injection, precolumn backflushing,
column selection, TVOC operation, and detection require a sophisticated circuit of
gas flow switching valves. All the parts of this circuit of valves and interconnections
that contact the sample should be chemically inert to preserve the quality of the
analysis and to reduce sample degradation. They should all be maintained at
elevated temperature to avoid any condensation of sample components.
Interconnecting volumes should be kept small to minimize any peak broadening.
