Unison Paradigm BACnet Interface Object Reference Guide

6 Paradigm LightDesigner Items

6.1 Expose On BACnet Property

Using Paradigm LightDesigner software, specific object instances may be removed from

exposition via the BACnet interface by setting the "Expose On BACnet" object property to

false. The Central Control Server node in LightDesigner provides this property for Error

objects and affects all errors reported within the Paradigm system.
This should be used to reduce the number of exposed objects, whether the intent is hiding

for security or for hiding uninteresting objects for simplicity or efficiency. All applicable

objects will be exposed by default; this property defaults to false or "No".

6.2 Send UCOVs Property

Subscription based change of value notifications are not supported in the Paradigm Central

Control Server. However, each object supported within the BACnet interface has a user

configurable property that governs whether an Unconfirmed Change of Value notification

should be sent when the object's present value changes.

This is configured using Paradigm LightDesigner software to modify the "Send BACnet

UCOVs" property for applicable objects. This property can be used to reduce the number

of automatic "change of value" (COV) responses that are sent to a client.

The property is unavailable if "Expose On BACnet" is set to false for that object instance.

All objects that are exposed via BACnet, except Channels, default to sending UCOVs and

have this property set to true or "Yes". Channel objects default this property to false or "No".

This default setting was selected as a courtesy, to mitigate sending a large number of

automatic level update responses from actions to Groups, Spaces, or Presets that can

affect the levels of multitudes of Channels simultaneously.

6.3 BACnet Device Instance Property

Paradigm LightDesigner provides the ability to change the device instance number that the

BACnet interface uses. In LightDesigner, selecting the Central Control Server in the

Browser tree will reveal a property in the Property Editor called “BACnet Device Instance”.

The default value is 108. This only needs to be changed if there will be device instance

number conflict with another device on the BACnet network.
