2. Check the positioning of the Side Plate in

relation to the top of the Rocker Knockers™

or other rocker armor (if present), and the top

of the DeFender. There will be some room

for adjustment. You may wish to align the

Side Plate very close to the top of the rocker

armor, or to split the difference between the

top of the rocker armor and the top of the

DeFender. Once it is positioned how you like

it best, further tighten the hardware installed

in the previous step.

3. Use the drill motor with 5/16” drill bit to

drill the remaining five (5) holes through the

side of the Jeep’s tub, using the Side Plate

as your drill guide. Be careful to only drill

through the outer sheetmetal. There is an

inner panel that you need not drill through.

4. Remove the Side Plate.
5. Use the drill motor with the 17/32” drill bit

to open each of the previously drilled holes

up to their final size. Be careful not to let the

bit wander or snag.

6. Install a supplied nut-sert into each of

the drilled holes, using the nut-sert tool

and instructions supplied separately, or the

professional nut-sert tool recommended

above in the “Tools Needed” section.

7. Re-install the Side Plate, this time using all

of the remaining hardware. Use anti-seize

compound on each screw, especially those

installed into the nut-serts. Be very careful not

to over-tighten the screws into the nut-serts,

as they may spin if not installed properly.

8. Repeat for the other side.
