Combining an upper-level protocol having the encryption function, such as IPSec or PPTP, and a firewall can enhance
security.

Separate the network (intranet) to be protected from the network having access points, and place a firewall
between them.
2.
Install protocols using encryption, such as IPSec or PPTP, in the stations and network resources (such as shared
servers) in the intranet. Define the system so that communication is always performed through these protocols.
3.
For communication between stations and network resources in the intranet, the firewall filters protocols to
prevent any protocols other than IPSec and PPTP from passing through.
