Before You Call for Service
You may save time and money by checking the
following:
If the Dryer:
Does
Not
Start
Does
Not
Heat
Does Not Dry
Clothes
Satisfactorily
Possible Reason – Do This to Correct
•
Metered Models – Insert coin(s) or card.
•
•
Nonmetered models – Turn the timer knob further into the cycle.
•
Be sure the cord is plugged all the way into the electrical outlet.
•
Close the loading door.
•
Make sure the controls are in a HEAT setting.
•
•
Metered Models – Activate time accumulator.
Push the coin slide all the way in.
•
Press the PUSH-TO-START pad.
•
•
Has the laundry room fuse blown or become loosened, or is a circuit breaker
OFF? The dryer itself does NOT have an electrical fuse.
•
Has the motor overload protector cycled? Wait 10 minutes and try again.
•
Gas Dryers Only – Check to see if the gas valve in the dryer (behind the lower
front panel) and the main gas line valve are turned on.
•
Clean the lint filter.
•
•
Check the exhaust duct to the outside to see if it is kinked, blocked or needs
cleaning.
•
•
Check the weather hood to make sure the flappers move freely, are not pushed
in or have not been blocked.
•
Is the load too small? Small loads may not tumble properly or dry evenly.
