Managing Volume Groups
Viewing Volume Groups
A volume group is made up of one or more LUNs.
To view the volume group:
1. Using the SDM web interface, click the Storage tab.
2. Navigate down the System Storage tree under Advanced Setup > Local Storage and
select Logical Vols/Volume Groups.
A table displays the following drive information for every volume group (VG):
o
Name of the volume group
o
The number of logical volumes in the volume group
o
The number of devices
o
Space available in the volume group
You can click on a column heading to sort items in that column. The Actions button in the upper
left corner lets you force a hardware rescan to search for other VGs, view details of the selected
volume group, or create a new volume group.
Once you have created a volume group, you are ready to create new logical volumes.
Creating a Volume Group
Creation of new volume groups can be accomplished via the Advanced Setup section of the
Storage tab. Under the Local Storage section, select Logical Vols/Volume Groups. This
page is intended for use rs knowledgeable in HP-UX system administration and the Logical
Volume Manager.
Caution: Incorrect use of these tools will result in data loss.
