Managing Storage
The Storage Tab
Please review the following sections before proceeding:

o Planning Your Storage
Your HP NAS VA must be completely configured before you attempt to set up your storage using
the Storage tab. For more information on configuring your system, refer to the Getting Started -
Part 1 and Getting Started - Part 2 sections of this manual, the HP NAS VA Configuration Guide,
and Help for the Configuration tab
The Storage tab is provided to allow you to manage the storage on the HP NAS VA. It is divided
into two main sections:
o Quick Setup - selections include RAID Device Setup and Physical Device Quick Setup
This selection is provided to allow quick initial setup of your storage devices. Arrays are
managed in the RAID Device Setup selection. Hard Drives are managed within the
Physical Drive Setup selection.
o Advanced Setup - the Local Storage section allows you to select Physical Devices,
Logical Vols/Volume Groups, and Mounted File Systems. These pages allow you to
manage attached disk and RAID storage devices at the Logical Volume manger level.
The Command View SDM section allows management of externally attached RAID
arrays. .
Caution: Use of the Advanced Setup Tools functions require you to use Command View SDM
to create and manage LUNs. Incorrect use of the Advanced Setup tools can result in data loss.
