Overview of SSL-Encrypted Communications
In order to improve security of remote operations from a Remote Web Console to a storage system,
you can set up SSL-encrypted communication. With SSL-encrypted communication, the user ID and
password required for logging in to the Remote Web Console are encrypted, and you can
communicate with a higher level of security.
For detailed information on the SSL-encrypted communication, contact your HP service representative.
You need to change the SVP (web server) to Apache, which supports SSL, in order to perform
SSL-encrypted communication. Your HP service representative will change the SVP to the
SSL-supported Apache.
Encryption Function Enhancement (Solution to the Year 2010 Encryption
Problem)
Remote Web Console and other SSL encrypted communication includes encryption processing
functionality.
The encryption functions are prepared for the year 2010 problem of encryption. This setting is
called Advanced Security Mode. If this setting is performed, the cryptographic algorithm changes
in some of the functions, but the Remote Web Console functions and operation methods are not
changed.
If you want to set the Advanced Security Mode, contact HP. See
“HP Technical Support” (page 140)
If you set the Advanced Security Mode and use Remote Web Console, please note the following:
•
When you enable the Advanced Security Mode, it might not be possible to connect to the SVP
from the P9000 or XP Command View Advanced Edition Software or some browsers for the
version that is not prepared for the year 2010 encryption problem.
•
Confirm that all the devices that will be connected to the SVP are for the versions prepared
for the year 2010 encryption problem before enabling the Advanced Security Mode.
•
If you enable the Advanced Security Mode, the user account is initialized where only root is
registered. It is necessary to recreate a user account.
•
In the status where the Advanced Security Mode is enabled, the user list that was backed up
when the option was OFF, or in the previous version, (older than 60-07-50-00-/00) cannot
be used.
•
If the account information update is performed while the Advanced Security Mode is enabled
and the version of the microprogram is downgraded to the previous version (older than
60-07-50-00-/00), the account information where the microcode is upgraded to the version
60-07-50-00-/00 or later again does not reflect the updated information of the previous
