Staged batch based on drying time – Grain Systems PNEG-1851 User Manual

Control Parameters
In staged batch, the dryer monitors the following two control parameters:
• Grain temperature
• Drying time
Control Schemes
Control schemes are preset drying strategies designed to aid the user in achieving the desired outgoing
moisture content. Each control parameter has specific control schemes to choose from. The figure that fol-
lows shows the control schemes that are available for each control parameter.

A Glance at the Full-Heat and Dry and Cool Operations in Staged Batch
The full-heat drying operation allows you to discharge uncooled, hot grain and manage the grain cooling
process outside the confines of the physical dryer. To operate your dryer using full-heat, all Fan and
Heater switches on the control panel are set to On and the Cooling Timer is set to 0 seconds. Conversely,
dry and cool allows you to completely dry and cool the grain within the dryer and, in doing so, unload dry
grain that is relatively close to the ambient temperature. To operate your dryer using dry and cool in staged
batch mode, all Fan and Heater switches on the control panel are set to Auto. For more information about
the full-heat and dry and cool operations, see
Grain Drying: Full-Heat or Dry and Cool, page 80

Staged Batch Based on Drying Time
Timer-based control schemes in staged batch use timers as their reference parameter. Use these
schemes when you would like timers to dictate the dryer’s heat level, and the grain’s exposure to heat not
to surpass a certain length of time.
How It Works
In timer-based control schemes, a drying timer starts at the beginning of the drying phase. During this
phase, allfans and heaters are activated so that theplenums can reach their respective setpoints. The
drying phase continues until the drying timer elapses. Once it has elapsed, the heaters stop, the drying
phase ends, and then the cooling and unloading phases follow one after the other.
The Time Control Scheme
In the time control scheme, you enter the following parameters:
