To load an clip element on the Software Player from the Database Explorer,
proceed as follows:
1.
Right-click in the Channel field of the Control Panel and select Software
Player from the contextual menu.
2.
Open the Database Explorer from the main menu.
3.
Select the requested clip or clip element (XT clip or file).
4.
Drag it to the Control Panel.
A clip element is loaded according to the rules defined in section 4.2.3 ‘Loading
Rules for the Software Player’ on page 58.

All types of clip elements may be separately loaded on the Software Player.
However, when the main line corresponding to the clip is selected, instead of a
clip element line, and loaded on the Control Panel, a single clip element will be
loaded according to the following priority rules:
•
A lo-res clip element will be loaded before a hi-res clip element.
•
A XT clip will be loaded before a file.
It means that when lo-res and hi-res XT clips and files exist, the following priority
rules apply:
1. lo-res clip
2. lo-res file
3. hi-res clip
4. hi-res file

•
Only one Software Player may be used at a time.
•
Only the following codecs are supported by the Software Player:
o
SD: MJPEG SD, MJPEG Proxy, IMX 30, IMX 40,IMX 50, DVCPRO 50, MPEG-
1, MPEG-2 (I-Frame), MPEG-4
o
HD: MJPEG EVS HD, MJPEG Standard HD, MPEG-2 HD (I-frame), Avid
DNxHD®, Avid DNxHD® (lo- and hi- level), DVCPRO HD 100 mbps.
•
It is neither possible to load a clip-list nor a playlist on a Software Player. The
Clip-List tab is not available.
•
It is not possible to load a growing clip on a Software Player.
•
Channels cannot be ganged. The Ganged Channels tab is not available.
