Volume Control Macros
In most installations (where a keypad controls a single zone), it is not necessary to program DAB1 E XTRA C OMMAND volume
control macros — you would simply use the keypad’s own volume control macro to control the zone. However, in an instal-
lation where a single K2 keypad is being used to control more than one zone, the DAB1’s E
XTRA C OMMANDS must be used.
As mentioned on page 50, programming DAB1 E
XTRA
C
OMMAND
macros is identical to programming other DAB1 macros.
However, to allow the K2 keypad’s volume control buttons to work as expected (that is, to continually change the volume
while being held-down), the V
OLUME UP and V OLUME DOWN macros must be built as described below.
1. Open the Sonance Control Manager, select a DAB1 unit and select E XTRA C OMMANDS (see Figure 72, on page 50).
2. Change the the first Extra Commands
(C OMMAND ID 001) Macro’s name from
UNTITLED to Z ONE 1 V OLUME UP.
3. Click on the macro. The M ACRO E DITOR
window will open (see Figure 84).
4. In the C OMMAND T YPE drop-down box, select
R EPEAT S TEPS . Make sure that R EPEAT C OMMANDS
U NTIL B UTTON I S R ELEASED is selected, and drag
the macro icon into the E DIT window.
5. Create a new macro by selecting the follow-
ing M ACRO F UNCTION parameters in their
respective drop-down boxes:

6. Drag the macro icon into the E DIT window,
inside of the R EPEAT S TEPS bracket (see
Figure 84). Click OK.
7. Repeat Steps 2 – 6, using the second Extra
Commands (C OMMAND ID002) macro for
Z ONE 1 V OLUME DOWN. (Change the V ALUE in
Step 5 to S TEP D OWN .)
8. Repeat Steps 2 – 7 for each zone you want
the K2 keypad to control.
Program the K2’s volume control buttons to trigger
these E
XTRA C OMMAND macros (see page 51).
