DAB1 DISTRIBUTED AUDIO SYSTEM
U p g r a d i n g t h e D A B 1 F i r m w a r e
To check which version of DAB1 firmware is loaded on the unit, connect the
USB cable between the DAB1 and your computer and launch the Sonance
Control Manager program. Open the C
OMMUNICATIONS menu and select G ET
F IRMWARE V ERSION . The F IRMWARE V ERSION I NFO screen ( Figure 34) will appear.
If the firmware version in the DAB1 is earlier than the one listed on the
Sonance website:
1. Follow the instructions on the website to download the newer version of
the DAB1 firmware onto your computer.
2. Unzip the new firmware file and save it in a convenient location on your
computer.
3. Open the C OMMUNICATIONS menu and select U PDATE F IRMWARE . The S ELECT N EW F IRMWARE I MAGE browser window will open.
4. Use the browser window to navigate to the new firmware file you just saved and click O PEN .
5. The warning screen shown in Figure 35 will appear:

ssaavvee , click C ANCEL . Open the C OMMUNICATIONS menu and
select R ECEIVE F ROM D EVICE . The programming in the DAB1
will be saved as a new device in the open
system. Proceed to Step 6.
6. Click OK. The DAB1’s firmware will be upgraded.
(The program in the DAB1 will be erased).
7. To reprogram a DAB1 with the program you saved in Step 5,
see Transferring System Information to the DAB1, on page 28.
