Audio Source Connections

The DAB1 has input and output connections for four source components. The
corresponding S
OURCE I NPUT and S OURCE O UTPUT connectors are arranged
vertically (see Figure 6). The S OURCE O UTPUT connections are buffered.

Connect a stereo RCA audio cable from the left & right line-level audio
outputs of a source component to one set of left & right S
OURCE I NPUT jacks
on the DAB1. You can connect up to four source components.

The Source 1 INT TUNER / EXT IN Switch assigns either the DAB1’s internal
FM/AM tuner or the component connected to the #1 S OURCE I NPUT jacks as
Source 1.

OURCE O UTPUT jacks to the record inputs on the recording device. This allows
the source component connected to the corresponding S OURCE I NPUT jacks to be
recorded.

W hh ee nn U U ss ii nn gg M M uu ll tt ii pp ll ee D D A A BB 1 1 C C oo nn tt rr oo ll ll ee rr ss :: In a system that incorporates multiple DAB1s, you can feed up to four
common sources to any or all of the controllers.
1. Designate one DAB1 as the P
RIMARY controller and the others as S ECONDARY controllers.
2. Connect the source components to the S OURCE I NPUTS on the P RIMARY DAB1 as described above.
3. For each source that you want to feed to the S ECONDARY controllers, connect a stereo RCA audio cable from its S OURCE
O UTPUT Jacks on the P RIMARY DAB1 to the corresponding set of S OURCE I NPUT jacks on the S ECONDARY DAB1 (S OURCE 1
OUT to S OURCE 1 IN, etc.). You can repeat this for up to four DAB1 Controllers (24 zones). This will feed audio from up
to four common sources to all zones in an expanded system.

For the best sound you should never use thin-gauge speaker wire – it will constrict the sound and diminish bass response.
We recommend that you use premium Sonance MediaLinQ speaker cable, which also complies with UL fire rating codes. You
may also experiment with audiophile brands of speaker cable, but be sure to check local codes governing wire that
may be installed within walls or ceilings. Use at least 18 AWG speaker wire for runs up to 50’, at least 16 AWG for runs
up to 100’ and at least 14 AWG for runs up to 250’.
