For K2 Summit Production Clients, the lock feature enables the write filter, which prevents persistent
changes to the system drive.
Unlocking a device or group
Prerequisites for this task are as follows:
•
The device or all the devices in the group are communicating correctly in SiteConfig. This is
indicated by the green star icon overlay.
•
The device or all the devices in the group are currently locked. This is indicated by the gray lock
icon overlay.
1. In either the
Network Configuration | Devices
tree view or the
Software Deployment | Deployment
Groups
tree view, identify the device or the group of devices that you intend to unlock.
2. Right-click the device or the group and select
Unlock
.
A “…may require restart…” message appears.
Not all device-types require a restart for the unlock process.
3. Click
Yes
to allow SiteConfig to restart the device or devices.
The Set Administrative Credentials dialog box opens.
4. Enter a username and password with administrator level privileges on the device or devices and
click
OK
.
The Unlocking Devices window opens and displays progress.
5. When the Unlocking Devices window reports that the unlock process completed successfully,
click
Close
.
The device or devices are now unlocked. For K2 Summit Production Clients, this also disables the
write filter, which enforces a restart.
