CHAPTER 11 • TOOLS
Note
The Alignment Tool page shows a 900-foot range, regardless of sensor type.
Note
This screen is purely a visualization tool and does NOT modify the sensor configura-
tion in any way. The range scale along the right side of the display is sensorcentric
(i.e. range starts at 0 and goes to 600 ft).
Below is a list and description of the alignment tool features:
˽
Roll – The angle that the sensor is rotated using the backplate center axis (clockwise =
positive; counter clockwise = negative).
˽
Target X – The target distance as shown in Figure 1.3 and Tables 1.1 and D.1 (see Chap-
ter 1 and Appendix D). This is the downstream distance of the target location (beam
hot spot). The target is depicted on the roadway view with cross-hairs and a light-green
color.
˽
Target Y – The offset as shown in Figure 1.3 and Tables 1.1 and D.1 (see Chapter 1 and
Appendix D).
˽
The Approach Width – This value allows you to make the virtual roadway (blue lines)
wider or narrower to match the width of the approach.
˽
Pan – The angle that the sensor is rotated about its vertical axis (right = positive; left
= negative).
˽
Tilt – The angle that the sensor is rotated about its horizontal axis. Only down angles
(negative angles) are supported.
Note
A properly-scaled screen capture of the footprint drawing can be used as an overlay
on roadway CAD drawings.
Serial Terminal
Click the Serial Terminal icon to start the Serial Terminal tool. The serial terminal provides
a rudimentary terminal interface that can be used to communicate with the sensor using a
com port (see Figure 11.10).
