Formatting a Floppy Disk
WK1 Or will not read from a Floppy Disk which is not in a recognized
format. Using a disk in a non-compatible format will prompt a message
that requests to abandon the current Floppy Disk and try with a new one.
Two formatting procedures are possible.
FORMAT 720 KB
This procedure formats a 3.5” DD Floppy Disk in MS-DOS/Atari ST formats
(capacity:720 kilobytes).
FORMAT 1,44 MB
This procedure formats a 3.5” HD Floppy Disk for WK1 use with 1,44
Megabytes capacity. Such format is fully compatible with MS-DOS and
allows the exchange of files between instruments of the WK and PK
series and computers (MS-DOS, Windows, OS/2, Macintosh, some Atari
models and Amiga).
THE FORMATTING PROCEDURE
This function is available in the third page of DISK mode. If you are re-
formatting a used disk, remember that all data stored in the disk will be
cancelled.
1. Press the FLOPPY DISK key and move with the PAGE key to the
third page (FORMAT).
2. Use the CURSOR key to choose between
1.44Mb
and
720kb
format.
3. Press ENTER twice to format the Floppy Disk as desired.
