GENERAL MIDI (GM)

To further improve the compatibility between instruments of different makes,
the MIDI file should conform to the General MIDI standard.

The General MIDI standard establishes common standards for the sound
listing, the Program Change numbers for sound selection, the configuration
in the Drumkits, the assignment of MIDI channel 10 to the drumkit track, a
minimum polyphony (24) and a maximum number of tracks (16).

In WK1 Or, the Sound Bank 1 and the Drumkit Bank 2, are fully compatible
to the General MIDI standard. WK1Or recognizes a MIDI file in General
MIDI standard by the messages it contains (General MIDI ON). In case
this message is not detected, sounds different from Drumkit could be
assigned to MIDI 10 channel. To ensure correct loading of GM compatible
MIDI files that do not contain the “General MIDI ON” flag, the General MIDI
parameter is set by defoult to ON under the “MIDI” button.

GMX FORMAT

GMX format is an extension of the General MIDI specifically by
Generalmusic that makes the first three sound banks of all WK Or
instruments compatible with each other.

LOADING SONGS AND MIDIFILES

Up to 7 locations (111-117) are available in the RAM to load Songs and
MidiFiles. To select a location, move the left cursor arrowhead to the SONG
menu function and digit the corresponding number in the left numeric
keypad.

NOTE: Songs can also be selected by direct digiting of the corresponding
number (111-117), on the keypad.

WK1 Or can load songs in the CD, WK3 e PK7 formats.

WHAT IS A MIDI FILE?

MIDI means Musical Instruments Digital Interface. A Standard MIDI File
(SMF) is a format created to maintain data compatibility among different
devices complying to the SMF format. This format allows Songs to be
exchanged between different instruments and computers. If a Song is
saved as a Midifile on a MS-DOS disk, most computers or musical
instruments will be able to load and read that Song.

WK1 Or reads format 0 e 1 MIDIFiles, and saves MIDI file in 0 format.

NOTE
A led turns ON while the Disk Drive
operation is in progress. Do not extract
the Floppy Disk during this time
otherwise the data could be damaged or

lost
