8.2. Points of Installation
Point 1
Install both antennas where a talker having the wireless microphone can directly see them within 20 – 30 m (or
at least within 40 - 50 m when placing outdoors).
(This is to ensure that the other antenna can receive signals in a good condition if dropouts occur in the
receiving range of either one of the 2 antennas. This is the only thing to keep in mind when installing antennas
no matter what room shapes are.
Draw a circle of radius 20 – 30 m centered on each antenna with a compass, then note that it is preferable to
install antennas in the area where both circles are overlapped.)
Point 2
Install 2 antennas at least 3 m away from each other in order to obtain diversity effect though depending on the
size and layout of the room. Installing the antennas 5 to 20 m away increases diversity effect. If possible, install
each antenna in front and back of a talker having a wireless microphone to enhance effects.
Point 3
Install the antennas above the user height wherever possible. But never install them to the inner side of the
ceiling or wall.
In addition, select the installation location where the antenna could not be hit and damaged by an object.
In the case of outdoor installation, take appropriate measures to protect them from rain
Point 4
Keep the antenna cable length roughly within 50 m for the 5C-FB and 70 m for the 7C-FB only as a guide with
a new coaxial cable.
Point 5
When using the wireless microphone in the exhibition hall, banquet hall, theater having a partition between the
stage and audience area, or open space larger than the coverage area of the antenna as described Point 1,
install more antennas.
Point 6
When using wireless microphones in multi-channel configuration, it is more effective for signal reception to
keep a distance of 5 to 10 m between all in-use wireless microphones and each receiving antenna.
8.3. Notes on Antenna Installation
• Typical usable range of the wireless microphone is within a 50 m radius (within a 100 m radius in an open
field) centered on the antenna position.
• Install the antennas at normal position where a talker having the wireless microphone can see.
• Using the microphone in close proximity to the antenna could result in malfunctions or noise.
Keep the wireless microphone at least 3 m* away from the receiving antenna.
* This distance differs depending on the conditions such as attenuator setting and antenna installation
location.
• Keep a distance of 5 - 20m between each antenna.
• Avoid installing the antenna near metal objects such as iron frames and lockers.
Install it at least 30 cm away from the wall surface.
• Be sure to install 2 or more (should be an even number) antennas in an alternative position, A – B – A – B and
repeat.
• For indoor antenna installation, install it on the wall through which radio waves are hard to pass rather than
near the window through which external radio waves can easily enter.
• Do not install the antenna and antenna cables close to devices that can generate radio noise, such as
Inverter-powered equipment (fluorescent lights, air-conditioners, etc.), digital equipment, PCs, and other
computer equipment.
• The maximum cable length for the antenna equipped with a booster is 70 m for the 7C-FB and 50 m for the
5C-FB.
• To extend the antenna cable, use the YW-7000 Antenna booster (optional).
Up to 2 each of the YW-7000 units (optional) can be connected to the receiver's A or B antenna input connector.
Installing the antenna booster near the midpoint of the antenna cable allows about 3 times the extension
cable distance (200 m for the 7C-FB and 150 m for the 5C-FB).
• Install the antenna and wireless receiver so as to minimize the coaxial cable length to connect between both.
• Never short-circuit the antenna or receiver's antenna connector, as the power supply could be shorted,
resulting in equipment failure.
