An adjuster cam

sets down force individually for each

row unit. With the optional Row-Pro™ system, the cam
sets maximum down force.

Refer to Figure 70

Higher settings are useful for penetrating hard soil.

Isolated higher settings are useful for planting in tire
tracks. For best results always adjust tractor tires so they
are not ahead of 30in or 70cm rows.

Use only enough down pressure to open the furrow and
maintain proper soil-firming over seed. Excessive down
force leads to premature wear on row unit components,
uneven seed depth and gauge wheel slippage.

Refer to Figure 69 (shown at cam setting 2),
Figure 70
and Figure 71
To adjust down pressure, use a 1

wrench or the tool

stored under the walkboard.

1.

Raise the planter. Although this adjustment can be
made with the planter lowered, the springs will be in
tension, causing more effort, and the optional
Row-Pro™ system might be active, and fighting you.
The extra force required might also damage tools.

2.

Install lift cylinder locks.

3.

Put tractor in Park and shut it off.

4.

Position wrench on the fixed nut

near or slightly

forward of vertical.

5.

Pull upper spring link

back.

6.

Move the adjustment cam

to the new setting on

the spring adjust bar

.

Note: Do not set all rows higher than notch four. Using

high settings across all rows causes uneven plant-
ing. Individual rows may be set higher if running in
tire tracks.

Note: With the optional Row-Pro™ system, do not use

higher cam settings for rows in tire tracks unless
there is actual need. If these rows do not need the
extra force, the cam setting could imbalance the
Row-Pro™ system.
