General Troubleshooting
Problem
Causes
Solutions
No material flow
(all rows)
Tire problems at contact drive
Check transport and contact tire sizes and
inflation (page 147).
Broken or removed chain(s) in drive system
Check chains against “Chain Routing” on
page 149.
Removed final rate Range gear(s); for exam-
ple, single hopper operation with incorrect
meter disabled
Re-install gear(s) per chart and calibration
for affected meter.
Variable rate gearbox set to zero, or too low
Re-set gearbox per calibration.
Empty hopper
Load material.
Meter in use clogged
Fan speed too low
Check pulses-per-rev setting for fan in seed
monitor (page 162). Increase fan speed to
recommended range (page 82).
Fan running backward
Reverse fan circuit hoses at hitch.
No material flow
(multiple rows)
Primary seed hose blocked
Check seed hoses for kinks, congealed
materials at low spots, nests and pests.
Tower inlet or turret blocked
No material flow
(one or two rows)
Seed tube blocked at row
Inspect and clear seed tube.
Tower port blocked for affected row
Disassemble distribution ring and clear
blockage.
False alarm - seed tube sensor discon-
nected or failed
Run monitor self-test. Swap sensor with a
working row to verify failure. Replace sensor.
Material is flowing, but
is not detected by seed
monitor
This is normal during the first few meters/feet
of planting, as it takes some time for material
to reach rows.
Lower openers 3m/10ft before planting is to
begin. Monitor does not check for blockage
during first 5 seconds.
Lift switch mis-adjusted, failed or mis-wired.
Check, adjust or replace switch (page 112).
Seed monitor disconnected at hitch
Connect seed monitor.
Planting too little
(some rows)
Partial blockage in meter chamber, seed
hoses, towers, seed tubes
Treat as blockage. See “No material flow
(multiple rows)” on page 97 and “No mate-
rial flow (one or two rows)” on page 97.
