Testing network connectivity
Tracing a route
To determine the path through which the router can reach another network device, enter the
traceroute command at the Privileged Exec level of the CLI.
traceroute
Syntax: traceroute {ipv4-addr | hostname}
•
ipv4-addr - Specifies the IP address of the device.
•
hostname - Specifies the host name.
The CLI displays trace route information for each hop as soon as the information is received. A
trace terminates when the destination responds, when the time-to-live (TTL) is exceeded, or the
maximum number of hops is exceeded.
Showing routing tables
To show detailed information for all entries in the routing table, routing entries in the Linux kernel,
and entries in the ZebOS routing table, enter the debug route command at the Privileged Exec level
of the CLI.
debug route
Syntax: debug route {all | ipal | routecfg}
•
all - Shows all routing tables.
•
ipal - Shows routing entries in the Linux kernel.
•
routecfg - Shows entries in the ZebOS routing table.
The debug route all command displays route information for IPv4 and IPv6 destinations, including
the next hop, interface ID, table ID, metric, and administrative distance.
Showing routing interfaces
To show detailed IP configuration settings for all IPv4 and IPv6 routing interfaces, enter the debug
ipcfg command at the Privileged Exec level of the CLI.
debug ipcfg
Syntax: debug ipcfg
The command shows detailed IP configuration settings for all IPv4 and IPv6 routing interfaces,
including the IP address, prefix length, interface index, and role.
