Configurations in the Rescue and Recovery Predesktop Area
To customize parts of the Rescue and Recovery Predesktop Area, use the rrutil.exe program to get files from
and put files to the Predesktop Area or the protected backups folder.
Note: The Predesktop Area can be manually started if the operating system does not start.
The files or directories along with their customization options are listed in the following table:

Windows Vista considerations
The \minint directory does not exist on the Windows Vista operating system with the Rescue and Recovery
program installed. The new folder in the Windows Vista operating system is called \tvtos and the entire
preinstallation environment operating system is contained in a WIM file.
For the Windows Vista operating system, you need to obtain the imagex.exe file in the Microsoft OPK (OEM
Preinstallation Kit) to edit the WIM file.
Note: Considering this formatting development, use the scenario in “Scenario 4 - Installing with WIM files
and Windows Vista” on page 83 when installing and deploying the Rescue and Recovery program on
the Windows Vista operating system.
