Adding a Device Manually
To add a device manually, select the Add button on the Devices tab.
Select the type of device and enter a name and network address information.
Eight device types are now available in the drop-down list.
• Server, PDU, UPS, Network device, and Chassis are monitored directly by the
software and will prompt protocol and network address information.
• Unmanaged server, Unmanaged network device, and Unmanaged storage device
are not managed directly by the software. You must assign an estimated power use
value for these devices or may associate these devices with monitored power outlets
on PDUs.
Under Optional Device Information,
• Size of Device is the number of rack-mount spaces (U) occupied by the device. Fill in
this field if you will add the device to a rack elevation.
• ERP Action is the action taken when the EPR button is activated (this action is only
available for servers monitored directly using the IPMI protocol.)
• Location is the bottom U space occupied by the device. Fill in this field if you wil add
the device to a rack elevation.
• Derated Power is the minimum amount of power budgeted for the device. This is
only used with servers monitored directly using the IPMI protocol for power policies.
• Description is an extra text field to record details about the device.
