LUN Expansion
LUSE volumes can be assigned to XP Continuous Access pairs, provided that the P-VOL and S-VOL
have the same LU type and the same number of LDEVs. If you need to perform LUSE operations
on an existing XP Continuous Access P-VOL or S-VOL, you must release the pair first to return the
volume to SMPL status.
For further information on LUN Expansion (LUSE), see the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000
LUN Expansion User Guide.
If you allocate the LUSE volume that consists of LDEVs set across more than one CU to the XP
Continuous Access pair, you must select CU Free for an RCU. The LUSE volume that consists of
LDEVs set across more than one CU cannot create a pair with the volume of an XP1024/XP128
disk array because CU Free cannot be added as an RCU with XP1024/XP128 disk arrays.
Custom Volume Size
CVS volumes can be assigned to XP Continuous Access pairs, provided that the S-VOL has the
same capacity as the P-VOL. If you need to perform CVS operations on an existing XP Continuous
Access P-VOL or S-VOL, you must release the pair first to return the volume to SMPL status.
For further information on CVS, see HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Virtual LVI/LUN (VLL)
and Volume Shredder User Guide.
Cache Residency Manager
The volumes that are applied using Cache Residency Manager can be assigned to XP Continuous
Access pairs, and Cache Residency Manager operations can be performed on XP Continuous
Access P-VOLs and S-VOLs.
For further information on Cache Residency Manager, see HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000
Cache Residency Manager User Guide.
LUN Manager
LUN Manager operations do not affect XP Continuous Access operations. Volumes that are under
secure ports and/or assigned to host groups can also be assigned to XP Continuous Access pairs.
Volumes that are assigned to XP Continuous Access pairs can also be assigned to secure ports or
host groups for LUN Manager.
