Table 35 Troubleshooting RCU Path Status Problems (continued)
Corrective Action
Description
Path Status
Make sure that the RCU port and remote
copy connection hardware (cables and
switches) are properly configured and
functioning.
The MCU connected to the RCU
successfully, but a logical communications
timeout occurred.
Communication
Failed
Repair the port status on the MCU.
The MCU port does not work.
Logical Blockade
Repair the port status on the RCU. Then
delete the path with Edit Path or Delete
RCU, and add the path again with Edit Path
or Add RCU.
The RCU port does not work.
Repair the path relay equipment. Then
delete the path with Edit Path or Delete
RCU, and add the path again with Edit Path
or Add RCU.
The path relay equipment does not work.
Replace the broken cable. Then delete the
path with Edit Path or Delete RCU, and add
the path again with Edit Path or Add RCU.
The connection cable is physically broken.
Delete the path with Edit Path or Delete
RCU, and add the path again with Edit Path
or Add RCU.
A program error is detected.
Program Error
Delete the failed path. You may need to
change the minimum paths setting or delete
the RCU to delete the path. Then add the
path/RCU using Edit Path or Add RCU.
This path was not established.

Status/Type
Clear the error condition at the RCU or
S-VOL, , and then, resynchronize the
pair from the MCU (Pairresync). .
If you need to access the S-VOL to clear
the error conditions, release the pair
(Pairsplit-S) from the RCU. After you
clear the error conditions from S-VOL,
restart the pair (Paircreate).
The MCU detected an error condition
at the RCU, which caused the MCU to
suspend the pair. The S-VOL suspend
type is S-VOL Failure.

Check the path status on the RCU Status
dialog box. If errors occur on the path,
clear the error conditions.
Clear any error conditions at the RCU
or S-VOL.
After you clear the error conditions,
resynchronize the pair from the MCU
(Pairresync).
If you need to access the S-VOL to clear
the error conditions, release the pair
(Pairsplit-S) from the RCU. After you
clear the error conditions from S-VOL,
restart the pair (Paircreate).
The MCU detected an error during
communications with the RCU or an I/O
error during an update copy. In this
case, the suspend type for the S-VOL is
usually S-Vol Failure.
