6. In the Confirm window of the Expand Pool wizard, complete the following and then click
Apply:

For Task Name, type a name for the task.
Character and symbol limit: 32
Allowable characters and symbols: All alphanumeric except \ / : , ; * ? " < > |
Default: date-task name

For Go to tasks window for status, select to open the task window.
Default: Cleared
The pool-VOL is added to the pool.

Available pool capacity formatting and increasing pool capacity
The following are the circumstances under which the available pool capacity is not formatted and
the available pool capacity is not increased:
•
You are formatting a pool-VOL other than the one that you have selected to format.

For more information about formatting external volumes, see “Formatting external volumes”
(page 81) .
•
The pool usage rate has reached the warning threshold (see “Editing the data pool warning
threshold” (page 124) ).
•
The I/O loads on the storage system are high.
•
One of the following is blocked:
The selected pool. ◦
◦ The cache memory.
◦ The pool-VOLs in the selected pool.
◦ The external pool-VOLs in the selected pool.
