Do not specify the noread mode (-m noread) for S-VOLs using RAID Manager. If you do, the
command ends normally but the noread mode does not take effect.
If a RAID Manager command is rejected and ends abnormally and the host is running the HP-UX
operating system, sense bytes (SSB) are output to the RAID Manager error log file. Sense bytes
indicate the cause of the error.
For more information about SSB and error causes, see
“Troubleshooting with RAID Manager”

Troubleshooting with RAID Manager
Errors can occur when you run RAID Manager commands.
To identify the cause of the error, refer to the following:
•
The log displayed in the RAID Manager window
•
The RAID Manager operation log file
The following task shows how to find errors from the log displayed in the RAID Manager window.
1.
Find the error code from the logs displayed in the RAID Manager window.
The following figure shows an example of a log displayed in the RAID Manager window.
2.
Locate the SSB1 and SSB2 codes. In the previous figure the error codes appear to the right
of "SSB=".
•
The last four digits to the left of the comma (,) are the SSB1 code (B9E1).
•
The last four digits to the right of the comma (,) are the SSB2 code (B901).
3.
Locate the description of the SSB1/SSB2 error code combination in the next table. For error
codes not described in this table, contact HP Technical Support.
1.
Open the RAID Manager log file, whose default location is:
/HORCM/log*/curlog/horcmlog_HOST/horcm.log
where:
•
The asterisk (*) is the instance number.
•
HOST
is the host name.
2.
Find the error code. An example error code string is:
11:06:03-37897-10413- SSB = 0xB901,4A96
3.
Locate the SSB1 and SSB2 codes. In the example error code above:
•
Error codes appear to the right of "SSB=".
•
The last four digits to the left of the comma (,) are the SSB1 code (B901).
•
The characters to the right of the comma (,) are the SSB2 code (4A96).
