The XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array needs the following conditions in these sites:

◦ an XP Continuous Access Journal master journal volume

XP Continuous Access Journal program product ◦
◦ an XP Continuous Access Journal secondary data volume
◦ an XP Continuous Access Journal restore journal volume
Setup Procedure
To set up a 2DC configuration using XP Continuous Access Journal and XP Continuous Access
Synchronous with the system option mode 707:
1. Install XP Continuous Access Synchronous and XP Continuous Access Journal. Configure ports
and journal groups.
2. Set the system option mode 707 on the XP Continuous Access Journal primary storage system
(intermediate site).
3. Register the XP Continuous Access Journal journal group.
4. Create an XP Continuous Access Journal pair in the XP Continuous Access Journal primary
storage system (intermediate site).
5. Confirm that the XP Continuous Access Journal pair status has become PAIR.
6. Create an XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair in the XP Continuous Access Synchronous
primary storage system (primary site).
7. Confirm that the XP Continuous Access Synchronous pair status has become PAIR.
NOTE: The XP Continuous Access Journal pair must be changed to PAIR status before the XP
Continuous Access Synchronous pair is changed. If you try to change the XP Continuous Access
Synchronous pair status to PAIR before the XP Continuous Access Journal pair status changes to
PAIR, the operation request is rejected.
